چکیده

The present paper depicts about the synthesis of cellulose ethyl ammonium thiophosphate (CEASP) and its metal complexes with Cd, Mo and Ce. CEASP and its metal complexes have been characterized by infrared (IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS) studies. The surface morphology of samples has been premeditated by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The thermal studies of samples have been carried out at multiple heating rates 2, 5, 10 and 20 °C min from ambient to 700 °C in nitrogen atmosphere. Nonisothermal model free kinetic methods have been used to calculate activation energy of samples i.e. Friedman, Ozawa-Flynn-Wall (O-F-W) and modified CoatsRedfern. The activation energy of samples lie in range 72-282 kJ mol. Thermal study shows that initial degradation temperature of CEASP and its metal complexes decreases and there is abrupt increase in char yield of synthesized samples as compared to pure cellulose. These and other related information suggest that such type of derivatisation could be proved a good flame retardant for cellulose.

Kinetic modeling of pectin extraction by ultrasound assisted and conventional methods

The goal of this study was to investigate the most suitable kinetic models for pectin extraction by way of ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) and conventional heating extraction (CHE) with acid from melon peel. The ultrasound and acidic assisted extraction were performed on powdered melon peel in three different temperatures of 40-55-70°C and 50-70-90°C, respectively. It was observed that, in...

The Photocatalytic, Thermal Degradation Kinetics and Lifetime Prediction of Some Commercial Reactive Dyes

The photocatalytic degradation of the commercial reactive Black5 (RB5), Blue19 (RB19), Green19 (RG19), Red120 (RR120), and Yellow81 (RY81) in aqueous solution and sunlight were examined in the presence of Fe2O3 and the mixture Fe2O3/H2O2 as catalysts. The results showed that the photocatalytic degradation followed first-order...

Comparative degradation kinetic studies of three biopolymers: Chitin, chitosan and cellulose

Cellulose, chitin and chitosan are the most abundant biopolymer on earth and constitute an important class of biodegradable materials. The decomposition of three major biopolymers viz. chitin, chitosan and cellulose are studied using simultaneous thermal analysis i.e. thermogravimetry/differential thermal analyzer (TG/DTA). Thermal analysis is performed from ambient temperature to 700 °C in a f...

Optimization and kinetic evaluation of acid blue 193 degradation by UV/peroxydisulfate oxidation using response surface methodology

The optimization of process conditions for the degradation of Acid Blue 193 by UV/peroxydisulfate was investigated using response surface methodology (RSM). The effects of four parameters namely initial K2S2O8 concentration, UV irradiation, temperature, and initial dye concentration on two process responses, color removal and the rate constants of the first-order kinetic equations, were investi...
